Product Description
It's all come down to this. Titans have broken through Wall Maria and are heading for the supply depot in Trost. If the depot falls, all the resources needed to continue fighting off these monstrous aberrations will be destroyed and all hope for the last remnants of mankind will be lost. It's up to you and your team to fend off and fell the Titans before they can succeed! Are you ready for the last stand? Play as your favorite Attack on Titan character. or as the Titan! During each round of the game, the Titan player chooses two Attack cards to play: One face up and one face down. The other players then roll their dice and try to avoid these Attacks, but knowing only what one of them is. The other will be a surprise, so players will have to use their wits to figure out what they need to avoid it. Protect your very lives and the castle walls to save the day! Positioning is key! The Titan and the castle walls create a vertical playing surface. Move your character up and down as you see fit to avoid Attacks, or tactically position yourself to land a devastating blow on the Titan. Tactics Cards can be revealed and utilized or passed on until later. Your goal is to weaken the Titan so that it's susceptible to a kill shot. But watch out! The Titan has lots of tricks waiting for you.

Step 1: Titan player selects action cards.
Step 2: Heros roll their die. (If Titan dice comes up, the die go to the titan.)
Step 3: The Titan can use the die to fulfill the activities or keep the die. Every dice used by the titan should be handed back to the heros so they could roll them again. If the titan symbol comes up again, the die are not given to the titan.
Step 4: Titan could use the action cards if the heros could not resolve. Afterwards, the titan will flip the other face down card. And the same rules apply.
Step 5: Heros could use the remaining die to do actions.
Step 6: Heros use tactic cards.
Step 7: Reset for next round. All the die go back to the heros. Titan keeps two action cards used this round to the side and puts back the two actions cards used in the previous round back in the deck.
Step 8: Continue the game like so until either the titan or the heros win.

The pieces are also well made and not cheap. My only complaint is the tower and titan. I'd recommend not dissembling them. If played often, they will definitely wear and tear eventually so it's better to keep them as is if possible.
The gameplay fits the world thematically, and most of the aspects have a large variety. Despite there being 4 titans, they play very differently and have a number of tactical options they can use. The same with the tactic cards that heroes have availability. I do wish there were more 'heroes' to play as though. Characters that played large roles in the manga such as Historia and Jean were left out for Connie (really?). Very strange but they do hit all the major fan favorites such as Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and Erwin.
Ultimately will give 4/5 stars. It's very polished, fun, and tactical. But it seems more could have been added to it with relative ease (more heroes than 8, possibly enemy titan shifters, smaller simple titans, ect). Also the rulebook is slightly terrible. It goes over the basics but does not clarify enough on certain things that are unclear. For example where do the heroes start (it could be assumed that they start on 0 but that's an assumption). Also do dice dedicated to tactic cards steal use their natural affects as well? Ect, ect.
The only negative I have with this game is that if you have folks who don't like dice rolling, or luck based gameplay, this game can be frustrating at times. There is significant strategy, but sometimes the luck of the dice-rolling outweighs any strategy the titan or heroes may have had. All in all this is a great game and I bet if it wasn't Attack on Titan themed, and just a generic monster vs humans skin, it would be a much more popular and known game.
Its so different that any of the other games we play and everyone loves the vertical game board! Definitely suggest getting this if you love the show and board games!
